ਦੋ ਜ ਦੋ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ Singular Nouns ਜ pronoun ਜੇਕਰ and ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ Plural Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• She and her friends is at the fair.✖
• She and her friends are at the fair.✔

ਜੇਕਰ and ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ Singular Nouns ਇਕ਼ ਹੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜ ਕਿਸੇ ਇਕ਼ ਹੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਦਾ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ Singular Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• The poet and singer have come.✖
• She and her friends has at the fair.✔
  ਉਪਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ Example ਵਿਚ Poet ਅੱਤੇ Singer ਇਕ ਹੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੈ

ਜੇਕਰ Article ਇਕ਼ ਹੀ Noun ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਮਝ ਲਾਓ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜ ਵਸਤੁ ਦੀ ਗਲ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ Article ਦੋਨੋ Noun ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਮਝ ਲਾਓ ਕੇ ਦੋ ਅਲਗ ਅਲਗ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜ ਵਸਤੁ ਦੀ ਗਲ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ

ਕੁਝ Subject ਇੰਨਾ ਸਬਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੂੜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ As well as, along with, together with, with, in addition to, like, unlike, but, except, besides etc ਏਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ Verb ਇੰਨਾ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ Nouns ਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ Singular ਜ Plural ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ

• The team captain as well as his players are anxious.✖
• The team captain as well as his players is anxious.✔
• The book including all the chapters in the first section are boring.✖
• The book including all the chapters in the first section is boring.✔
• The woman with all the dogs walk down my street.✖

ਜੇਕਰ ਵਾਕ ਵਿਚ “Subject“ each, every, either, neither, one, everyone, anyone, no one, someone, nobody, somebody etc ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ Singular Nouns ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• Each of these hot dogs are juicy.✖
• Each of these hot dogs is juicy.✔
• Everybody know Mr. Jones.✖
• Everybody knows Mr. Jones.✔
• Either are correct.✖
• Either is correct.✔

ਦੋ ਜ ਦੋ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ Nouns/Pronoun ਜੇਕਰ or, nor, either-or, neither-nor ਨਾਲ ਜੂੜੇ ਤਾਂ, Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਵਾਲੇ Nouns/Pronoun ਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• he or his friends is arriving by train today.✖
• he or his friends are arriving by train today.✔
• Neither Juan nor Carmen is available.✔
  ਉਪਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ Example ਵਿਚ his friends ਅੱਤੇ Carmen ‘Verb‘ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਹਨ

ਜੇਕਰ and ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ Singular Nouns ਵਰਤਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਏਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ Singular Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• Whisky and soda were served in the party.✖
• Whisky and soda was served in the party.✔

ਜੇਕਰ Clause ਦਾ Subject ਕੋਈ Relative Pronoun (who, which, that) ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ Verb ਉਸ Relative Pronoun ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ Nouns/Pronouns ਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• Example – it is I who am helping them.✔

ਜੇਕਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਾਕ ਵਿਚ ‘Subject‘ ਕੋਈ ਏਹੋ ਜਾ ‘Noun‘ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਰੀ, ਸਮਾਂ, ਰਕਮ ਜ ਵਜਨ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਮਿਣਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਾ ‘Subject‘ ਦੇ ‘Plural‘ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਵੀ Singular Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• Eight hours are enough for the work.✖
• Eight hours is enough for the work.✔

I wish, as if, as though, if etc ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਕਲਪਨਾ(imagination), ਜੋ ਸੰਭਵ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਥੇ Singular Subject ਦੇ ਨਾਲ Plural Verb ਅਕਸਰ: were ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• He talks as if he was a king.✖
• He talks as if he were a king.✔

ਕੁਝ Nouns ਜਿਵੇਂ Glasses, shoes, scissors, pants, trousers, spectacle etc ਇਹੋ ਜੇ Noun ਹਨ, ਜੇਕਰ ਇੰਨਾ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋ Subject ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ Plural Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• Example – Her scissors is sharp.✖
• Her scissors are sharp.✔

ਪਰ ਜੇ a pair of ਆਵੇ ਤਾਂ Singular Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• Example – A pair of scissors have been bought.✖
• A pair of scissors has been bought.✔

Furniture, luggage, scenery, information, advice, news, percentage, poetry, knowledge, money, music etc ਕੁਝ ਇਹੋ ਜੇ Noun ਹਨ ਜੋ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ Singular ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅੱਤੇ ਇੰਨਾ ਲਈ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ Singular Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ
Example – All her poetry are good.✖
All her poetry is good.✔

ਕੁਝ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾਂ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ, ਖੇਡਾਂ, ਵਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਅੱਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਜੀਨਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ S ਲਗਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਫੇਰ ਵੀ ਉੰਨਾ ਨਾਲ Singular Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ
ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ- measles, mumps etc
ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ – billiards, darts, bowls etc
ਵਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ – physics, statistics, Mathematics, civics etc
ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ – The united states, The west Indies, Athens, Wales etc

• Mathematics are not an easy subject.✖

Jury, mob, council, committee, audience, family, army, team, government, crew etc ਤੋਂ ਜੇਕਰ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਦੀ ਇਕਠੀ ਗਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ Singular Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• Example – The mob have dispersed.✖
• The mob has dispersed.✔

ਪਰ ਜੇ ਇੰਨਾ Nouns ਗਰੁੱਪ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਅੱਤੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਲ ਕਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ Plural Verb ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

• Example – The crew was taken prisoners.✖
• The crew were taken prisoners.✔
